KANGAROO TRAPPER ACCREDITATION

The Firearm Safety and Training Council conducts accreditation courses for professional firearms users in the following regional centres.

The Firearm Safety & Training Council Limited advises that in 2008 Kangaroo Trapper licences are not currently available from National Parks and Wildlife Service.

For currently accredited trappers, you can register to reaccredit online: Register

Once you register we will send you a copy of the Kangaroo Trappers Handbook and a theory test for completion.
Return the completed test to the Council and we will advise you of the date/time for the shooting test at one of the five regional locations

Firearms Inspection

The minimum requirements for an appropriate firearm are detailed on page 6 of the handbook.
You will be required to present your firearm for inspection.
The firearm will be assessed by an experienced team as to its serviceability and appropriateness for the role of Kangaroo Trapper.

Firearms Shooting Accreditation

The final segment of the accreditation process is a shooting test.
The test will be conducted on an approved full-bore rifle range.
The test conditions are:
Shooting Distance 80 metres
Shooting Position - any sitting supported position you choose

Note: Vehicles will not be permitted on the firing point.

The test standard is:
To shoot a five-round grouping practice to achieve a 75mm group or better.

Your accreditation card will be issued once both sections of the course are successfully completed you can then approach the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to obtain tags.
